Born from the need to find tools that performed better, our journey began with a simple idea: create a tool that works with you, not against you. That initial idea became the SpikeMat, an innovative, user-friendly solution for aerating lawns that’s both useable and highly effective.
But innovation doesn’t stop at functionality. We are committed to using sustainable materials and responsible manufacturing processes to reduce our environmental impact. How did Spike Innovations start...
At Spike Innovations, we’ve always believed that keeping a lawn green and healthy shouldn’t be a struggle. Aerating the soil, in particular, was often overlooked simply because the tools available were either heavy and expensive or awkward to use and ineffective. That challenge sparked the creation of the SpikeMat – a simple, effective and user-friendly solution to lawn aeration.
The idea began with a rough prototype made from a piece of old sterling board and a few nails. It wasn’t perfect, but it proved the concept. From there, we focused on refining the design and finding a material that was not only strong and practical but also environmentally responsible. Initially leaning towards a moulded plastic solution we decided Bamboo was a much better and natural eco-friendly choice – lightweight, durable and sustainable.
Today, the SpikeMat is built to make aerating your lawn easier and greener, giving every gardener a more effective way of caring for their outdoor space.

The SpikeMat helps you maximise downward force through the spikes, which is why we chose a crocodile and its teeth for our logo as it has the strongest known bite force in the entire animal kingdom.
